## Hidden costs and limits

- Credit consumption varies by model: Multilingual v2 uses 1 credit per character, but Flash/Turbo models use only 0.5 credits per character. Choosing the right model can double your effective quota.
- Conversational AI burns credits fast, approximately 10,000 credits per 10 minutes of real-time conversation, compared to 10,000 credits for ~10 minutes of standard TTS.
- Professional Voice Cloning (PVC) slots are limited: Creator gets 1 PVC, Pro gets 10, Scale gets 3. Additional PVC slots are not available as add-ons, you must upgrade plans.
- Unused credits roll over for only 2 months on paid plans, then expire. If you have a slow month, you cannot stockpile indefinitely.
- The Free plan requires attribution ("Made with ElevenLabs") on all public content and provides no commercial rights. The $5 Starter plan is the minimum for monetized content.
- API pricing is separate from the web UI subscription. API Pro starts at $99/month with 100 API credits, a different credit system from the standard character-based quotas.
- Annual billing saves ~17% (roughly 2 free months), but there is no month-to-month flexibility once committed.
