Adobe Lightroom Pricing in 2026

Plans, hidden costs, and alternatives compared

Is Adobe Lightroom worth the price?

7/10

Lightroom pricing is straightforward but the plan structure confuses many buyers.

The standalone Lightroom plan at $11.99/mo gives you cloud-based Lightroom with 1TB storage — but excludes Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. For just $8 more ($19.99/mo), the Photography Plan 1TB adds both Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, making the standalone plan poor value for anyone who edits on desktop.

The legacy 20GB Photography Plan at $9.99/mo is no longer available to new subscribers. All plans require annual commitment; there is no true month-to-month option without significant penalty.

Hidden Costs & Gotchas

Early cancellation fee

50% of remaining months on the annual plan — all Lightroom plans are annual commitments billed monthly

No true monthly option

these are annual plans paid monthly. Canceling mid-year triggers the 50% early termination fee

Cloud storage limits

1TB sounds generous but fills up if you sync original RAW files (50MB each = ~20,000 photos). Additional storage costs $9.99/mo per extra TB

Legacy plan lock-out

the 20GB Photography Plan at $9.99/mo (previously the best deal in photo software) is no longer available to new subscribers as of 2025

Lightroom Classic is desktop-only

it is included in the Photography Plan but not the standalone Lightroom plan — confusing branding means some buyers get the wrong plan

AI features consume credits

Generative Remove, AI Denoise, and other AI-powered edits use monthly credits that can run out with heavy use

Preset marketplace

Adobe includes basic presets, but professional Lightroom preset packs ($20-$150 per pack) are a significant additional cost for many photographers

How Adobe Lightroom Compares

Individual photographer, 12 months, RAW photo editing and catalog management

Adobe Lightroom$144/year (Lightroom 1TB at $11.99/mo) or $240/year (Photography Plan 1TB at $19.99/mo)
Capture One$179/year
Affinity Photo$69.99 one-time
Luminar Neo$119/year

Which Plan Do You Need?

Mobile-first photographers and casual shootersLightroom 1TB Plan ($11.99/mo annual)

Includes Lightroom (cloud-based) with 1TB storage for syncing across desktop, mobile, and web. Ideal if you shoot primarily on a phone or mirrorless camera and edit on the go. Does NOT include Lightroom Classic or Photoshop — but at $11.99/mo it is the cheapest entry point for Adobe photo editing.

Professional photographers managing large catalogsPhotography Plan 1TB ($19.99/mo annual)

The best overall value in Adobe photography. Includes Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, AND Photoshop for $8/mo more than the Lightroom-only plan. 1TB cloud storage handles approximately 20,000 RAW files. If you need Photoshop at all, this plan is cheaper than buying Lightroom + Photoshop separately.

Photographers who also do design, video, or illustrationCreative Cloud All Apps ($54.99/mo annual)

If you need Lightroom plus Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or InDesign for client work, the All Apps bundle includes everything. Jumping from Photography Plan ($19.99) to All Apps ($54.99) adds 20+ more apps for $35/mo extra.

Our Recommendation

Worth it if...

You want a seamless cloud-synced workflow across phone, tablet, and desktop. The Photography Plan at $19.99/mo is genuinely hard to beat — you get Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, AND Photoshop with 1TB storage. No competitor bundles that much for the price.

Skip if...

You only need basic photo editing without catalog management (Affinity Photo or free tools like RawTherapee are better value), you primarily shoot tethered in a studio (Capture One is superior for tethering), or you want to avoid subscription lock-in entirely (Capture One perpetual or Luminar Neo perpetual).

Negotiation tips

Existing subscribers on the legacy $9.99/mo Photography Plan should stay on it — switching plans loses the grandfathered rate permanently. Adobe offers periodic 40% off promotions on Black Friday and Adobe MAX. Education pricing is available for students/teachers through Adobe. Annual prepaid plans are slightly cheaper than monthly billing on annual commitment.
