Yes, AWS will discontinue Amazon Lookout for Vision on October 31, 2025. After this date, you cannot access the console or create new models. Existing packaged edge models will continue to work.
What are the alternatives to Lookout for Vision?
AWS recommends Amazon SageMaker (including pre-trained models in SageMaker JumpStart) or Amazon Bedrock as alternatives for computer vision and anomaly detection use cases.
How many images are needed to train a model?
Amazon Lookout for Vision can train models with as few as 30 images. The service uses multiple algorithms in parallel during training to find the best performing model for your use case.
Can Lookout for Vision run at the edge?
Yes, models can be packaged and deployed to edge devices for real-time inspection without sending data to the cloud. Edge models will continue to work after the service discontinuation.
How is pricing calculated?
Pricing has three components: training hours (/hour), cloud inference hours, and edge inference units (monthly per device). You pay only for what you use with no upfront commitment.
