Our Recommendation
Worth it if...
You want a reliable, fast VPN with the largest server network (8,400+ servers, 129 countries) and are willing to commit to 2 years. NordVPN consistently ranks at the top for streaming unblocking (Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney+), P2P performance, and connection speeds. The Complete plan at $3.99/month is good value if you also need a password manager.
Skip if...
You only need a VPN for occasional use (a few times per month). The monthly price of $14.99 is not competitive, and there is no free tier. Proton VPN offers unlimited-data free VPN in 5 countries, which covers casual browsing and public Wi-Fi protection without any payment. If price is the primary concern, Surfshark at $2.19/month (2-year) undercuts NordVPN while offering unlimited simultaneous devices.
Negotiation tips
Go with the 2-year plan for the lowest rate, and note the renewal price ($139.08/year for Basic). NordVPN runs frequent promotions (Black Friday, seasonal sales). If you already pay for a password manager, compare before choosing Complete.
