Informatica's MCP server fronts its Intelligent Data Management Cloud so an agent can work with governed enterprise data instead of raw tables. The master data management surface is the most developed part: it turns dozens of underlying MDM API operations into a small set of business capabilities, so an assistant can retrieve the single trusted view of a customer, check whether a record it is about to create would duplicate one that already exists, and validate addresses, phone numbers and emails through Informatica's contact data services before anything gets written. It also reaches the stewardship layer. An agent can list and progress the review tasks that sit between a proposed change and a golden record, which is the step that usually stalls when data stewards work through a queue by hand. Because the calls run through Informatica's API Center, the platform's existing governance, matching, merging and security rules still apply: the agent is not bypassing the logic that makes master data trustworthy, it is calling it. It is aimed at enterprise data management, MDM and data governance teams already on IDMC, particularly those building internal assistants that need a reliable answer to who a customer is across many source systems. Consolidating those operations behind one governed service is what makes the surface safe to expose to an agent at all.
