About OpenToonz
OpenToonz is an open-source 2D animation production software. It is based on "Toonz," a software originally developed by Digital Video S.p.A. in Italy and customized by Studio Ghibli, where it was used for many years in the production of their films. Dwango launched the OpenToonz project with the cooperation of Digital Video and Studio Ghibli, making it freely available for both commercial and non-commercial use. This software aims to be a new platform connecting academic research in visual expression with the animation production現場.
