Teradata publishes an open source MCP server for Vantage that packages the analytics platform as tool modules an agent can call. The base module handles the expected work: list databases, tables, and views, read column definitions, execute SQL, and summarize a result set. On top of that sit modules built for specific jobs rather than generic querying. The DBA module surfaces operational state such as space consumption by database and table, active sessions, table skew, and query logs, so an assistant can explain why a workload is slow instead of only returning rows. A data quality module profiles columns for missing values, negative values, distinct category counts, and distribution statistics, which is the groundwork analysts usually do by hand before trusting a table. Further modules cover vector search and retrieval augmented generation over data held in Vantage, plus feature store access for teams doing machine learning inside the database. Bundled prompts steer an agent toward the right module for a given request. The audience is enterprise data teams with Vantage in production: analysts who want conversational access to governed tables, DBAs delegating routine diagnostics, and engineers building agents that must stay inside the warehouse security model. The server connects with standard Teradata credentials, so object and row permissions continue to apply to whatever the agent asks for.
