About Vantage MCP
Vantage's MCP server exposes cloud cost management to AI clients so FinOps questions get answered against real billing data rather than a spreadsheet export. Cost tools query costs over a custom period, list existing cost reports and fetch or create a report. Budgeting tools create and update budgets and cost alerts. Reporting tools build dashboards, financial commitment reports and resource reports, and manage report notifications. Optimization tools list recommendations, return the detail behind one, and create scenario models for comparing options. Organizational tools manage workspaces, folders and virtual tag configurations, which is how most teams reshape messy provider tags into categories a business recognizes. The surface goes wider than cost tables. Provider tools list and describe underlying resources and query network flow logs, so an agent can move from an unexpected line item to the specific resource driving it. Administrative tools cover audit logs, users and teams. Cost data spans the providers a customer has connected, including the major public clouds and other integrated services, and detected anomalies are readable so a spike can be investigated in the same conversation. Two deployments exist: a hosted remote server authenticated by browser OAuth or an API token, and a self hosted build from the open source repository using an API key. Either way the server respects the same permissions that apply in the Vantage console. It targets finance, platform and engineering leaders doing cost review without leaving their assistant.
