Atlassian MCP

Atlassian MCP is Atlassian's remote Model Context Protocol server for Jira and Confluence Cloud. A client connects to the hosted endpoint, the user authorizes it with their Atlassian account, and the assistant then works inside both products under that person's existing permissions rather than through a shared integration account. On the Jira side it covers the issue lifecycle: search with JQL or plain language, read an issue with its fields and comments, create issues, update fields, move an issue through workflow transitions, and add comments. On the Confluence side it searches the wiki, reads a page's content, and creates or updates pages, which is what lets an agent write a summary or a spec back into the space where the team will look for it. Project, space and user lookups fill in the metadata an agent needs to file things in the right place. The recurring pattern is moving work between thinking and tracking. An assistant in an editor reads the ticket it is implementing, then posts the result back as a comment or transitions the issue. A planning conversation ends with issues created in the right project and a Confluence page documenting the decision. Because it is a remote server tied to a user grant, revoking access is a single action and every write is attributable to the person who authorized it, which is the practical difference from wiring an API token into a local script.
