What is OwlCAD?

OwlCAD is a free, browser-based parametric CAD editor built for 3D printing. Combine shapes with booleans, extrude and revolve sketches, add fillets and chamfers, and change any dimension later: the model rebuilds from its history. A print check looks for holes in the mesh, thin walls and overhangs. Import STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP and OpenSCAD files; export STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, DXF and SVG. Nothing to install, and projects are private by default.

OwlCAD FAQ

Is OwlCAD free?

Yes. Modelling, import, export and the customizer are free forever, and you keep commercial rights to what you make. Pro is an optional paid plan, billed monthly or yearly, that adds AI generation, Modify-with-AI and agent access over MCP.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. OwlCAD runs in any modern browser with nothing to download, and you can start modelling without an account. Sign in when you want cloud projects, sharing and version history.

Can I sell what I make with OwlCAD?

Yes, on every plan, Free included. You can sell the prints, sell the files or use them in a product, with no royalty, no attribution and no separate licence.

Which file formats does OwlCAD support?

It imports and exports STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, SVG and DXF, and opens OpenSCAD .scad files. STEP export produces a solid (B-rep) file and is in beta.

Are my projects private?

Yes. Projects are private by default. Sharing a link or publishing a model to the public gallery is always your choice.

Does OwlCAD slice models for my printer?

No. OwlCAD handles modelling and print preparation (a print check, hollowing, lay-flat and printer profiles), then exports print-ready STL or 3MF for Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura or OrcaSlicer.
