Redpanda MCP

Redpanda Data builds MCP support directly into its cloud platform and the rpk CLI, letting an agent operate streaming infrastructure rather than just describe it. Tools cover cluster and topic administration, including listing topics, reading partition and configuration details, and creating or altering topics, plus producing and consuming messages so an assistant can inspect real payloads and reason about consumer lag. Schema registry access rounds out the data path. A companion documentation server exposes Redpanda's published docs as a searchable resource, so configuration answers come from official guidance instead of a model's stale recollection of Kafka flags. Teams can also register their own MCP servers assembled from Redpanda Connect pipelines, which turns existing connectors and transformations into agent-callable tools without writing a server from scratch. Servers are either managed by Redpanda or self-managed and registered with the Agentic Data Plane, and authentication runs through cloud credentials via rpk, with OAuth options where user-delegated access is needed. It suits platform and data engineering teams running Kafka-compatible streaming who want an assistant to debug a stuck consumer group, check a topic's retention settings, or provision topics as part of a larger workflow.
