About Ahrefs MCP

Ahrefs runs one of the largest independent web crawls and link indexes, and its MCP server exposes that dataset to an AI client so research happens inside the conversation instead of across a dozen browser tabs. An agent asks about a keyword, a domain, or a URL and gets structured rows back, which means the model reasons over real crawl and clickstream data rather than recalling what a site ranked for at training time. Coverage follows the product surfaces. Keyword research returns search volume, difficulty, matching and related terms, and volume split by country. Site Explorer returns backlinks, referring domains, anchor text, organic keywords, top pages, and Domain Rating history for any domain, competitors included. On top of that sit SERP overviews for a query, rank tracking for configured projects, site audit issues, and reporting on how often a brand is cited in AI generated answers. It is aimed at SEO teams and content operations that want an agent to do the assembly work: size demand for a topic, pull the pages a competitor ranks with, and hand back a brief with the numbers attached. Calls draw on the account's API quota, so teams normally point agents at a defined set of endpoints rather than letting them explore freely.
