About Toolport
Toolport is a free, open-source local MCP (Model Context Protocol) gateway that centralizes MCP server management for AI agents. Instead of configuring the same tool servers (like GitHub, Slack, or databases) separately for each agent, Claude, Cursor, Codex, and others, you set them up once in Toolport, and every agent shares them. The gateway uses lazy loading: instead of dumping all tool definitions into context, it exposes a small set of meta-tools that the agent queries on demand, reducing token usage by up to 91% compared to conventional setups. This means faster responses, lower costs, and more room under plan limits. Security is built in: every tool call is fingerprinted for integrity checks, flagging changes like rug pulls or hidden instructions. API keys never leave your OS keychain, they are injected at runtime, never stored in config files or the cloud. You can toggle any tool on or off per agent, fleet-wide, to prevent destructive actions. Live observability provides per-server latency, error rates, and a full audit trail. Toolport runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, requires no account or cloud, and is MIT licensed. A Teams version allows up to 5 people to share a governed set of servers while keeping individual keys local.
