Customer support, in the same snapshot, is a paid-first category. DevOps is not. DevOps also holds only 47,889 aggregated third-party reviews across 236 rated tools, a fraction of the review mass in communication or ecommerce, at an average of 4.47 out of 5. This is a large category that grew up on open source. People run the tools. They do not write G2 reviews about them.

How large the DevOps category is

We track 414 published tools, or 3.9% of the catalog. 72% (299 of 414) were added to Toolradar in 2026. The category is bigger than ecommerce and far bigger than customer support, and it has a fraction of their reviews. That is the first-party finding. DevOps software is adopted in production long before it is rated on a review site.

CNCF's 2025 annual survey, 628 respondents in September 2025, puts numbers under that habit. 98% of organizations have adopted cloud native techniques. Kubernetes usage in production has reached 82% among container users. The foundation lists 234 projects and more than 270,000 contributors (CNCF Annual Survey 2025). For the 82 tools that publish a paid tier, the median entry price is $30 a month and the mean is $218. The mean is several times the median because a small set of enterprise platforms (hosted CI, observability suites, commercial Kubernetes) sit on top of a free and cheap majority. Use the median if you are buying a single tool. Use the mean only as a warning that the top of the market is a different product.

Glasskube leads at 4.80. The list is CI, containers, and cloud storage, not the Kubernetes distributions most teams actually run. That is the coverage gap. The tools with public review profiles are not always the tools in production. Treat the leaderboard as satisfaction among the tools that bother to collect reviews, not as a map of the stack.

What the survey says teams run next

The same CNCF survey that measured Kubernetes in production also measured what that cluster is for. 66% of organizations that host AI workloads use Kubernetes to run generative AI, 23% fully and 43% in part. 52% of organizations do not train models at all. 47% deploy AI models only occasionally; 7% deploy daily (CNCF).

The stack is becoming the AI runtime. That is why a category that is 77% free still has a $218 mean: inference platforms and hosted CI are where the money moved, while the orchestrator underneath stayed open.

Every figure in this report is computed live from the Toolradar directory on September 17, 2026, covering the 414 published tools we categorize under DevOps. Pricing model is read from each vendor's official pricing page. The entry price is the cheapest positive monthly tier a tool publishes. Ratings and review counts are aggregated from third-party platforms (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and others), not from Toolradar's own reviews. The leaderboard floor is 250 aggregated reviews. External statistics are cited inline and link to the exact source page. This is a directory snapshot, not a survey.
