BigCommerce MCP

BigCommerce MCP brings a BigCommerce store within reach of AI agents through the Model Context Protocol. It sits on top of the platform APIs and presents catalog, order, customer, and cart data as tools a model can call, which covers two distinct jobs: letting a shopper-facing agent browse and buy, and letting a merchant or developer manage the store conversationally. On the storefront side the exposed surface is what a shopping assistant needs: searching the catalog by keyword or attribute, retrieving a product with its variants, options, and availability, adding items to a cart, and moving that cart toward checkout. On the admin side it reaches the operational records behind the storefront: products and their inventory levels, orders with line items and shipment records, and customer accounts with their order history. Because both sides run against the same store, an agent can answer a question about stock and then act on it in the same session rather than handing the job back to a human to finish. It is aimed at merchants building conversational shopping experiences, agencies connecting BigCommerce stores to assistant platforms, and developers who want catalog and order data available inside their editor while building. Access runs on store-scoped API credentials, and the usual pattern is to start read-only with product search and availability before granting anything that can write to carts, orders, or inventory.
