About Asana MCP
Asana MCP is the official Model Context Protocol server from Asana that connects AI assistants directly to your Asana workspace. It exposes 42 tools over a streamable HTTP endpoint, letting AI agents create, update, delete, and search tasks, manage projects, assign work, and query your entire work graph through natural language. The server uses OAuth 2.0 authentication with permission inheritance, meaning it respects existing Asana access controls. Only vetted client applications on Asana's allowlist can connect, adding an extra layer of security. The V2 server (launched February 2026) uses the streamable HTTP transport at mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp, replacing the deprecated beta endpoint. Because the MCP server exposes the full Asana Work Graph, AI agents can reason about task dependencies, project timelines, and workload distribution. You can ask an AI assistant to find overdue tasks across a portfolio, bulk-reassign work, create templated projects, or generate status reports, all without switching context to the Asana UI. The server works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, and any other MCP-compatible client.
