About Smartsheet MCP

Smartsheet MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for Smartsheet, the spreadsheet-style work management platform used for project plans, trackers, and operational rollups. It gives an agent read and write access to the objects a Smartsheet account is built from: workspaces and folders at the top, sheets inside them, and columns, rows, and cells inside those. The effect is that a sheet stops being something a person has to open and scroll, and becomes a data source an assistant can query, summarize, and update in place. Discovery usually comes first. An agent can list what the connected user can see, pull a sheet's column metadata to understand its structure and column types, then read rows with filters so it retrieves only what matters instead of dragging back an entire tracker. Search returns matching cells along with their row and column identifiers, which is what lets a follow-up write target the right cell. Writes cover creating sheets from scratch or from a template, adding and updating rows, adjusting columns, creating reports that roll up several source sheets, and posting into the discussion and comment threads where the human conversation about a row lives.
