VeloFiler is a keyboard-first file manager for macOS that streamlines file operations into a single, uninterrupted flow. It features a dual-pane layout with Vim-style navigation (j/k/h/l), allowing users to browse, preview, edit, and move files without lifting their hands from the keyboard. The built-in preview engine supports images, videos, audio, PDFs, Office documents, code, and Markdown (including GFM, math, Mermaid, and Zenn notation) directly in the file list. Beyond local files, VeloFiler integrates SSH/SFTP connections via ~/.ssh/config, enabling remote file management with the same keyboard shortcuts and preview capabilities. It automatically reconnects after idle periods and never stores private keys. The app also includes a grid view for photo thumbnails, a built-in text editor with Standard and Vim modes, Markdown note-taking with auto-save, and bookmark-based fuzzy jumping. Cloud storage services like iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive are detected and can be opened directly in a pane. Large file transfers show progress and run in the background without blocking the interface.
