Best Accounting Software for Auto Repair Shops in 2026

TL;DR

Short answer: QuickBooks Online Plus at $140/mo is the ledger an auto repair shop's accountant will close, with parts inventory included for 5 users. Shopmonkey Accounting at $99/mo fits when the repair order, cores, and parts margin should be the books. Tekmetric Start at $179/mo on an annual plan fits when the shop system comes first and QuickBooks stays the file. Xero Growing at $55/mo fits when the accountant refuses Intuit and someone still keys the day's sales.

The repair order is not the general ledger. Plus is the Intuit plan that holds parts inventory, and the shop system is a second bill.

275 Accounting tools tracked

Most auto repair shops buy a shop system and then treat the ticket as the books. The accountant later receives a deposit that never names the brake job. The repair order and the ledger are two subscriptions, and the cheap plan on either one drops parts inventory or the QuickBooks sync.

Toolradar data: 192 of the 275 accounting tools we track are paid-only (70%), and 27% still offer a free or freemium plan.

That free share is why a no-cost invoicing app keeps landing in this search. A free ledger can record a deposit, and it still has no repair order, no core charge, and no parts matrix. The margin on a brake job then stays in the shop system or in a spreadsheet. This ranking is for the owner and the office manager who need those two records to match before the year closes.

A general shortlist lives in the accounting software guide. A one-bay shop with no parts shelf should start with the small-business accounting guide.

QuickBooks Plus is the start when the accountant will only sign an Intuit file and the parts shelf has to live in that file. Shopmonkey Accounting is the start when the repair order itself should be the ledger. Every other ledger we track is listed in the accounting catalog. How we chose: these 10 were judged for a shop ticket and a closeable file, against the 275 accounting tools in the catalog, with every price read on the vendor site in September 2026, using the method on how we rate.

QuickBooks

Top Pick
  • 4.4 on G2 (405 reviews)

Shops whose accountant closes the year in QuickBooks and tracks parts there.

  • Pro: Plus includes inventory and project profitability for 5 billable users and 2 accounting firms, so the parts shelf can live in the file the accountant signs. Simple Start is 1 billable user at $38/mo and can track sales tax, which fits a shop that only records deposits.
  • Pro: Plus and Advanced include stock tracking, including the moving-average cost method Intuit documented in January 2026, so a reordered part keeps a real unit cost. Lower plans add inventory only as a separate subscription.
  • Pro: Bill Pay Elite is $45/mo on the lower plans. Intuit includes it on Advanced and describes that inclusion as a $540 a year value, for up to 25 billable users and 3 accounting firms, so those shops are not buying bill pay twice.
  • Con: Essentials is $85/mo for 3 billable users and adds bills and time. It still omits inventory unless you buy the add-on, and it has no repair order, so the parts shelf stays outside this quote.
  • Con: The Plus product page and the pricing page both show $140/mo (rechecked September 24, 2026). A new subscription is half off for three months, then the list rate applies, so budget the post-promo rate.

Watch out

50% introductory discount expires after 3 months, doubling your bill overnight

2
Shopmonkey logo

Shopmonkey

Shops that want cores, labor, and the profit and loss in one system.

Shopmonkey screenshot
  • Pro: The accounting product page lists a native ledger at $99/mo, with core charges, EPA fees, sublet, and parts returns already set up, plus a CPA login and no setup fee, so you are not mapping a brake job from scratch.
  • Pro: QuickBooks Online sync is included on Clever and Genius, not on Basic. Clever is $359/mo billed annually, or $399 month to month, with 4 users, which is the tier if you still want an Intuit file.
  • Pro: Bank reconciliation connects through Plaid, and closed repair orders, payments, and purchase orders post into the profit and loss, the balance sheet, and the cash flow report, so the close can stay inside Shopmonkey.
  • Con: The pricing page lists that accounting add-on at $89/mo, so the two Shopmonkey pages do not match. Bookkeeping is $349/mo on the product page and $314/mo on the pricing page, and the order should name which figure you accepted.
  • Con: Basic includes 3 users and excludes inventory, purchase orders, and the QuickBooks Online sync. Each extra user is $20/mo, and data migration is a $500 one-time fee, so Basic is not a parts shelf or a handoff.
Fair value

This approach often indicates a higher price point tailored to specific business needs, potentially making it expensive for smaller operations.

3
Tekmetric logo

Tekmetric

  • 4.9 on G2 (507 reviews)
  • 4.7 on Capterra (104 reviews)

Shops that want unlimited users and will keep QuickBooks as the file.

Tekmetric screenshot
  • Pro: Start includes inventory, vendor management, digital authorization, and invoicing, with unlimited users and unlimited repair orders, and Tekmetric does not require a long-term contract, so you can leave if the bay system does not stick.
  • Pro: A second location is $70/mo on top of a full plan for that shop, so a second address costs more than another login. The tire add-on is $39/mo per shop and belongs on the same quote.
  • Pro: Grow adds the labor guide, maintenance schedules, time clocks, and parts reports. Start does not include those labor tools, so flat-rate pricing from a guide is not on the entry tier.
  • Con: The books do not close inside Tekmetric, because The Back Office Accounting Link posts to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Sage Intacct, and Tekmetric does not print that link's price.
  • Con: A voided payment does not update QuickBooks if the repair order already synced, so the end-of-day report and the ledger can disagree until someone posts the void.
Good value

Tekmetric's pricing is on the higher side compared to some basic shop management software, with the 'Start' tier at $199/month.

Watch out

Add-ons for multi-shop, tires, marketing

4
AutoLeap logo

AutoLeap

  • 4.8 on G2 (777 reviews)

Shops that will pay for Pro so the repair order reaches QuickBooks Online.

AutoLeap screenshot
  • Pro: Pro adds QuickBooks Online, inventory, two-way texting, and time clocks, so the repair order can update the ledger without a second typing pass. The homepage lists 5 users on Pro and 3 users on Essentials.
  • Pro: Elite is the unlimited-user tier, listed at $409/mo billed annually on the homepage, while the pricing page also shows $449/mo, so confirm which figure the order uses.
  • Pro: The pricing page lists parts core and return tracking and supplier payables, which is the parts math a generic invoice does not start with.
  • Con: Essentials does not include the QuickBooks Online integration, so the cheaper plan still leaves the ticket to be typed into the ledger.
  • Con: There is no free trial, and AutoLeap charges a one-time setup fee for migration and training without publishing the amount, so the site rate is not the cash required to start.
Good value

The Pro tier at $309/month offers significant value with inventory management and advanced integrations.

Watch out

Potential extra costs for 'Maintenance Schedules*' and 'Diagrams & Procedures*'

5
Shop-Ware logo

Shop-Ware

  • 4.8 on Capterra (163 reviews)
  • 4.9 on G2 (41 reviews)

Single-site or multi-site shops that want unlimited users and a separate link.

Shop-Ware screenshot
  • Pro: Every published plan includes unlimited users, inventory, parts ordering, and the parts matrix, so advisors are not a per-seat upsell. The fee is per location, and a month-to-month option exists beside the annual rates.
  • Pro: Pro, at $389/mo billed annually, adds unlimited two-way texting, the MOTOR labor guide, and batch payments. Shop-Ware calls Pro its most popular starting option when estimates use that labor guide.
  • Pro: Master, at $499/mo billed annually, adds monthly inventory value and gross profit tracking, the parts-margin view lower tiers do not lead with. Shop-Ware says a typical onboard takes 30 days.
  • Con: Accounting Link is a named integration, and the FAQ says that link can add a fee that is not on the pricing page, so Startup is not the books.
  • Con: The $999/mo annual tier adds the website, SEO, ads enablement, and CRM, and the CRM and online scheduler bundle alone is $249/mo. That spend is marketing, not a better close.
6
Mitchell 1 logo

Mitchell 1

  • 2.5 on G2 (3 reviews)

Shops that want Mitchell repair data and a priced accounting link.

  • Pro: The Manager SE order page lists Accounting Link at $69/mo with no activation fee, and the page says those website prices are for new subscribers. Few other shop links on this list print that fee.
  • Pro: Teamworks is a 12-month lease bundling ProDemand, Estimator, and ManagerPlus for one user, at the rate in the pricing table. You are buying repair information and a shop desk, not a standalone ledger.
  • Pro: An additional Manager SE user is $15/mo on that same order page, a smaller step than a full second shop plan when another advisor needs the desk.
  • Con: Manager SE Truck Edition is $204/mo on that catalog, and Truck Edition with labor is $244. Those lines are the truck product, not a passenger-car quote.
  • Con: Renewals are told to call rather than use the website price. The Teamworks lease runs 12 months, so leaving mid-term is a contract question, not a billing toggle.
7
Xero logo

Xero

  • 4.4 on Capterra (3,325 reviews)
  • 4.4 on G2 (1,833 reviews)

Shops whose bookkeeper requires Xero and will enter the day's sales.

  • Pro: Growing includes bills, sales tax, and bank auto-reconcile, with no per-user fee, so a larger office does not buy another seat to post. Payroll through Gusto is $36/mo plus $6 per employee or contractor, beside the ledger rather than inside it.
  • Pro: Established, at $90/mo, adds projects and multiple currencies. Inventory Plus covers up to 10,000 orders on Growing or Established, and the US page does not print that add-on's price.
  • Pro: From October 1, 2026 the US list becomes $59 for Growing and $97 for Established, and Early moves from $25 to $27. New US customers can take 90 percent off for six months through September 30, 2026, which is not the renewal rate.
  • Con: Early allows 20 invoices and 5 bills, and invoices created by app partners count toward the cap. A shop that posts every ticket will outrun Early, including tickets an integration creates on its own.
  • Con: Tekmetric's Accounting Link page names QuickBooks and Sage Intacct, not Xero. Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, and Shop-Ware's published integration lists name QuickBooks, so someone still keys the day's sales if Xero is the file.

Watch out

Potential add-on costs for specific integrations

8
Zoho Books logo

Zoho Books

  • 4.4 on Capterra (680 reviews)
  • 4.4 on G2 (329 reviews)

Shops that want bills and inventory without a per-user ledger fee.

  • Pro: Professional includes stock tracking and vendor bills, with 5 users, so a small shop can hold parts and supplier invoices without a per-seat ledger. The free plan allows 1 user plus 1 accountant and up to 1,000 invoices a year while revenue stays under $50,000.
  • Pro: An extra user is $3/mo, or $2.50/mo billed annually, so a sixth login is not a new edition of the software.
  • Pro: The US comparison includes sales tax, 1099 filing, and bank feeds, the compliance work left after the ticket is written, including 1099s for sublet vendors.
  • Con: Bills start on Professional, while Standard tracks expenses rather than vendor bills, so a parts invoice has no bill workflow on the lower plan.
  • Con: There is no repair order and no published shop-system sync. The 14-day trial does not add cores, flat-rate labor, or a QuickBooks replacement for the bay.
Great value

Zoho Books is the best value in cloud accounting.

Watch out

Additional users cost $2.50/user/month on top of plan price

9
Wave logo

Wave

One-bay owners who invoice by hand and want a free starting ledger.

  • Pro: Starter includes unlimited estimates, invoices, bills, and bookkeeping records at no subscription fee, which is why it keeps appearing in this search. Card payments on Starter are 2.9% plus $0.60, so the free plan still takes a cut of every card deposit.
  • Pro: Pro adds automatic bank import, categorization, and receipt capture. Annual Pro is $190, and a new monthly Pro subscription is $9.50 for the first 3 months, after which that introductory rate ends.
  • Pro: Canceling Pro returns the business to Starter, and Wave does not sell a separate Pro trial, because Starter is the free plan.
  • Con: Starter does not auto-import bank transactions, so a shop with a daily card deposit reconciles by hand until it pays for Pro.
  • Con: There is no parts inventory and no repair order. Wave is the file for an owner who will type the invoice, not the system that builds the ticket in the bay.
Great value

Wave's Starter tier is incredibly generous, offering unlimited invoicing and bookkeeping for free, which is rare in the market.

10
AutoFluent logo

AutoFluent

  • 4.7 on G2 (113 reviews)
  • 4.7 on Capterra (113 reviews)

Tire and service shops that export cores and vendor bills to QuickBooks.

  • Pro: AutoFluent says the software is compatible with QuickBooks or Sage 50, and vendor bills include cores and claims processing, so cores do not have to be retyped into the ledger.
  • Pro: Sales, customers, inventory, and mechanic hours can be tracked across locations, and cloud hosting is included in the subscription, so a second site is not a separate hosting bill.
  • Pro: Support is included at no extra charge, five days a week, with emergency after-hours service, and the product runs on Windows 8 and later, which is the check before you promise advisors a login.
  • Con: AutoFluent does not publish a monthly price, so this row cannot be lined up against a printed shop subscription until sales sends a number.
  • Con: The workstation is Windows, so a shop that wants a browser login for every service advisor needs a different product, and the next step is a demo rather than a checkout.

What accounting software for an auto repair shop actually is

Accounting software for an auto repair shop records the repair order, the parts and labor on it, and a profit and loss the accountant can sign.

A normal small-business ledger stores a bill, a payment, and a bank line. The brake job, the core, the shop-supplies fee, and the technician's flat-rate hour stay in the shop system. Without a path between those records, the profit and loss shows a deposit, so you cannot tell whether parts or labor made the money.

The ten systems below come in three shapes, and the shape decides whether you replace the ledger or keep paying it. QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, and Wave can be the books. Tekmetric, AutoLeap, Shop-Ware, and Mitchell 1 write the repair order and then push a summary into a ledger, so the accounting subscription is still due. Shopmonkey also sells a ledger inside the shop system, so one vendor covers the ticket and the close. AutoFluent exports toward QuickBooks or Sage 50 from a Windows shop.

The head-to-head for the two small-shop files is QuickBooks vs Xero. A generic invoice tool with no repair order is a different purchase, covered in the invoicing software guide.

Why the cheap plan fails on a repair order

The bill that hurts is the first parts invoice, not the software quote. You paid for a finance seat, and inventory or the QuickBooks sync sat on the next plan. Intuit sells that gap as separate QuickBooks Online subscriptions. Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, and Tekmetric sell it as separate shop tiers.

Plus is the first Intuit plan that includes inventory and project profitability. Simple Start and Essentials can add inventory only as a paid extra. A quote that names Essentials is a bills-and-time file, so the parts shelf still lives somewhere else, or you buy the add-on and pay twice for the same shelf.

Shopmonkey's QuickBooks Online sync starts on Clever, not on Basic. AutoLeap's QuickBooks Online sync starts on Pro, not on Essentials. Tekmetric Start can invoice and track inventory, and the general ledger still leaves through The Back Office, which is a separate order. A shop that budgets only the entry shop plan has not bought the books.

Plus includes 5 billable users, so anyone past that cap needs another Intuit plan. Xero charges the organization, so a shop with 4 people and a shop with 14 pay the same base fee. Mitchell 1 charges for an extra Manager SE user. Tekmetric and Shop-Ware do not charge per user, and they charge per location, which means a second bay address costs more than a second login.

If the company has no repair orders, use the bookkeeping software guide. If the work is trade contracting with job cost rather than a ticket, use the contractor accounting guide.

Key Features to Look For

  • Inventory on the same license as the ledger (Essential)

Plus includes parts inventory, so the shelf can sit in the file the accountant signs. Simple Start and Essentials need a $40/mo inventory add-on, or the books never see that margin.

  • A repair order the ledger understands (Essential)

Shopmonkey's accounting page preconfigures core charges, EPA fees, sublet, and parts returns. QuickBooks has no repair-order record, so those same categories are a setup job or a sync.

  • QuickBooks sync on the plan you buy (Essential)

Shopmonkey includes QuickBooks Online on Clever and above, and AutoLeap includes it on Pro. Either entry plan still leaves the ticket to be typed into the file.

  • A user charge you can multiply (Essential)

Plus caps billable users at 5, so anyone past that cap needs another Intuit plan. Xero does not charge per user, while Mitchell 1 lists an extra Manager SE user at $15/mo.

  • A per-location shop fee (Important)

Tekmetric and Shop-Ware price the shop, not the login, so an extra advisor is cheaper than a second address. A second Tekmetric location is $70/mo plus a full plan, and Shop-Ware's published rates are per location.

  • Sales tax on the ticket (Important)

QuickBooks Simple Start and every Xero plan on the US page include sales tax. The shop still has to mark which lines are taxable before the deposit hits the bank, or the return and the ticket will not match.

  • An accounting link that is a second bill (Important)

Tekmetric and Shop-Ware name Accounting Link and do not print its price, so the shop quote is not the full books. Mitchell 1 lists Accounting Link at $69/mo on the Manager SE order page, which you should budget before dropping the ledger.

  • A price on the page, not only on the demo (Nice to have)

AutoFluent, The Back Office link inside Tekmetric, and Shop-Ware's accounting-link fee have no public dollar. A shortlist you cannot add up is not a budget.

What to decide before the demo

  1. If the accountant will only sign QuickBooks, price Plus before a shop system. Inventory is included there, and Essentials is a different subscription that leaves the shelf outside the file.

  2. If the repair order should be the profit and loss, price Shopmonkey's accounting add-on on top of a shop plan. Then confirm whether you still need a QuickBooks file for the accountant.

  3. If you want Tekmetric or AutoLeap, name the tier that includes the sync before the quote is written. Start and Essentials are the wrong orders for a QuickBooks handoff.

  4. If more than five people must post in Intuit, Plus is too small. Advanced is the plan with room for 25 billable users.

  5. If the bookkeeper requires Xero, assume the day's sales get entered by hand. The shop systems on this list publish QuickBooks, not a Xero sync, so the ticket does not arrive on its own.

Evaluation Checklist

  • On QuickBooks, confirm the order says Plus if parts inventory must live in the file. Then list who is a billable user and who only needs a report.

  • On Shopmonkey, confirm whether the accounting add-on matches the product page or the pricing page. Also confirm whether QuickBooks Online sync is required, because that sync is not on Basic.

  • On Tekmetric, ask for The Back Office price in writing before you sign Start. The shop plan does not include that link's fee.

  • On AutoLeap, confirm Pro if QuickBooks Online must update from the repair order, and ask for the setup fee in dollars.

  • On Shop-Ware, confirm the location count and whether Accounting Link is on the order. Startup's published rate is the shop software, not the close.

  • On Mitchell 1, separate the Teamworks lease, the extra user, and Accounting Link. Do not use the Truck Edition line for a passenger-car shop.

  • On Xero, confirm Growing if you send more than 20 invoices. Write down the October 1, 2026 list price before the new-customer promo ends.

  • On Zoho Books, confirm Professional if you need vendor bills and stock tracking. On Wave, confirm whether Starter's missing bank import is acceptable for a daily card deposit.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • ×

Buying QuickBooks Essentials for a parts shelf pays for bills and time and leaves inventory as an add-on. The parts margin still has to be rebuilt in the shop system, which is the work the ledger was supposed to hold.

  • ×

Buying Shopmonkey Basic or AutoLeap Essentials for the sync gets estimates and invoices. QuickBooks Online is on the next tier of each product, so the ticket still gets typed into the file after you have already paid.

  • ×

Treating Tekmetric Start as a closed set of books covers the repair order and the inventory. The Back Office link is a separate order, and a void that happens after the sync does not fix QuickBooks by itself.

  • ×

Using the Mitchell 1 truck lease as the car-shop price picks up Truck Edition. The passenger-car path on the public order page is the Teamworks bundle, plus users, plus Accounting Link.

  • ×

Buying Xero Early to save the organization fee caps invoices and bills. A busy week of repair orders can exhaust the plan, including invoices an app creates without anyone noticing.

  • ×

Dropping the ledger because Wave Starter is free removes the subscription and also removes automatic bank import. The daily card deposit is then a manual reconciliation, and the repair order was never in Wave.

Expert Tips

  • →

Name the Intuit plan on the order before the demo ends. Plus is the inventory plan for up to 5 billable users, and Advanced is the plan with room for 25. The small-business accounting guide is the next page when the shop has no parts shelf and no repair-order system.

  • →

Write both Shopmonkey rates into the notes. The accounting product page and the pricing page do not print the same add-on figure. Clever includes QuickBooks Online, and Basic does not.

  • →

Ask Tekmetric for the Accounting Link number in the same quote as Start. Sage Intacct is a named target alongside QuickBooks. A shop that skips the link still needs a ledger, compared on QuickBooks vs Xero.

  • →

Price AutoLeap Pro, not Essentials, when the handoff is the point. The setup fee is real and unpublished. A shop that only needs digital invoices should read the invoicing software guide before paying for Pro.

  • →

Put the October 1 Xero date on the order. Growing and Established both rise that day, the new-customer discount runs through September 30, 2026, and Inventory Plus still has no public US price. Shops leaving Intuit entirely can start from QuickBooks alternatives.

  • →

Keep Wave and Zoho for a shop that will type the invoice. Professional is the Zoho plan with bills and stock, and Starter is the Wave plan without bank import. Neither one replaces a bay system, and a local file with no fee is a separate path in the free accounting software guide.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • A QuickBooks quote that says Essentials for a shop that wants parts inventory in the file. That tracking is included on Plus and is a separate add-on below it.

  • Shopmonkey Basic or AutoLeap Essentials sold as the QuickBooks integration. Those entry plans omit the sync, so the ticket still gets typed into the file.

  • A Tekmetric or Shop-Ware order with no line for Accounting Link. The quote is then the shop system, and the books are still unpriced.

  • A Mitchell 1 Truck Edition price used for a general repair shop. That SKU is $204/mo on the Manager SE catalog and is the truck product, not the passenger-car bundle.

  • Xero Early sold as the shop ledger. It caps you at 20 invoices and 5 bills, partner invoices count toward the cap, and a busy week of tickets can exhaust it.

  • A card reader added in the demo. Shopmonkey lists the reader at $299 plus $10/mo per device, on top of the plan.

The Bottom Line

QuickBooks Plus is the pick when the accountant will close an auto repair shop in Intuit and parts inventory has to live in that file. Advanced is the pick when more than five people must post. Shopmonkey Accounting is the pick when the repair order, the core, and the profit and loss should be one product, after you confirm which of its two published add-on rates the order uses.

Tekmetric is the pick when you want unlimited users and will pay for a separate accounting link into QuickBooks. AutoLeap Pro is the pick when that sync has to be on the shop plan itself. Shop-Ware is the pick when unlimited users per location matter and you will price Accounting Link before you sign. Mitchell 1 is the pick when you want a published link fee and Mitchell's repair information on a 12-month lease.

Xero Growing is the pick when the bookkeeper refuses Intuit and someone will enter the day's sales. Zoho Books Professional is the pick for a lower organization rate that already includes bills and stock. Wave Starter is the pick for a one-bay owner who will type invoices and can live without automatic bank import. AutoFluent is the pick when the shop wants a Windows system that exports to QuickBooks or Sage 50 and will wait for a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best accounting software for auto repair shops in 2026?

QuickBooks Online Plus is the default when an auto repair shop's accountant will close the year in Intuit and parts inventory should be in that file. Intuit's pricing page lists Plus at $140/mo for 5 billable users, verified in September 2026.

Shopmonkey Accounting is the better start when the repair order itself should be the ledger, and its product page lists that add-on at $99/mo. Tekmetric is the better start when the shop wants unlimited users and will keep QuickBooks as the file. A one-bay owner who will type each invoice can start on Wave Starter instead of a shop system.

How much does accounting software for an auto repair shop cost in 2026?

September 2026 list prices split into a ledger and a shop system, and most shops pay both. QuickBooks Advanced is $340/mo for 25 users, and Xero Established is $90/mo before it becomes $97 on October 1, 2026. Zoho Books Professional is $40/mo billed annually, and Wave Pro is $19/mo.

On the shop side, Tekmetric Start is $179/mo on an annual plan. Mitchell 1 Teamworks is $265/mo for a 12-month lease, and Shop-Ware Startup is $279/mo billed annually per location. AutoLeap Pro is the sync tier in the comparison table. AutoFluent publishes no price, and neither does The Back Office link inside Tekmetric.

Is there a free accounting tool for an auto repair shop?

Wave Starter has no subscription fee for unlimited invoices and bills, and it does not auto-import the bank, so a daily card deposit stays manual until Pro. Zoho Books has a free plan while revenue stays under $50,000, with 1 user plus 1 accountant and up to 1,000 invoices a year, and vendor bills start on a paid plan.

Neither free plan has a repair order, and QuickBooks, Xero, Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, and Shop-Ware do not offer a free shop ledger. A shop that only needs a free file, and not a bay system, should read the free accounting software guide.

Is QuickBooks Plus enough for an auto repair shop?

Plus is the first QuickBooks Online plan with inventory included, for 5 billable users and 2 accounting firms. Simple Start, at $38/mo, is 1 billable user and can track sales tax, which is a deposit file rather than a parts file. Essentials, at $85/mo, adds bills and time for 3 users and still omits inventory unless you add it as a separate subscription.

Advanced, at $340/mo, covers 25 billable users, which is the plan when the office outgrows Plus. Plus has no repair order, so the shop system still writes the ticket. Class tracking, which can separate customer-pay work from warranty or fleet, is available on Plus and Advanced.

Do Tekmetric or Shopmonkey replace QuickBooks?

Shopmonkey Accounting is built to replace the second ledger. The product page prices that add-on as a flat monthly fee, shown in the summary, and says repair orders, payments, and purchase orders post without a QuickBooks sync. You can still buy QuickBooks Online sync, and that sync starts on Clever, at $359/mo billed annually.

Tekmetric does not replace QuickBooks: Accounting Link sends the day's activity to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Sage Intacct, and the link's price is not on Tekmetric's pricing page. A void after the sync does not rewrite the QuickBooks payment. See QuickBooks alternatives if the open question is dropping Intuit entirely.

Which auto repair shop plan includes the QuickBooks sync?

Shopmonkey includes QuickBooks Online on Clever, Genius, and Multi-Shop. Basic does not, and QuickBooks Desktop is an additional fee on the plans that offer it. AutoLeap includes QuickBooks Online on Pro, at $309/mo billed annually, and not on Essentials, so Essentials cannot be the handoff plan.

Tekmetric and Shop-Ware connect through Accounting Link rather than a checkbox on the entry plan. Mitchell 1 lists its own Accounting Link at $69/mo for new subscribers. Xero is not the target those pages name, and the ledger comparison is QuickBooks vs Xero.

Can Xero be the books for an auto repair shop in 2026?

Xero Growing can be the ledger, at $55/mo with bills, sales tax, and no per-user fee. It does not receive a repair order from the shop systems on this list, based on the integration pages those vendors publish. Someone still enters the day's sales, or a connector you confirm yourself has to do it.

Early, at $25/mo, caps you at 20 invoices and 5 bills, and a shop that posts every ticket will outrun that cap. From October 1, 2026 Growing's US list becomes $59 and Early's becomes $27. Inventory Plus is optional on Growing and Established, for up to 10,000 orders, and Xero does not print that add-on price on the US pricing page.
