Dagster MCP

The Dagster MCP server is a hosted endpoint that gives an AI client structured access to a Dagster Plus organization, so an agent can answer questions about pipeline state and act on it. Run tools view runs, launch new ones and terminate those in flight. Run log tools return the logs for a run, which is what an agent needs to explain a failure rather than restate that one happened. Asset tools view asset state and trigger materializations. Deployment tools report and manage deployment state across the organization. Beyond execution, the server covers the governance surface of Dagster Plus. Alert policies can be listed, created, updated and deleted, so an assistant can add a notification rule after a postmortem instead of leaving it as a task nobody picks up. Dagster Plus Issues support the same full set of operations, letting an agent open and close issues tied to pipeline problems. Insights metrics are readable, which lets an agent reason about run duration, credit consumption and other platform level trends. Connection is over HTTP to the hosted MCP URL. Authenticating through the browser OAuth flow means the agent inherits the signed in user's Dagster Plus permissions; a manual path sends a user token as a bearer header alongside an organization header. It targets data platform and analytics engineering teams who want to triage a broken asset from their editor or chat client without moving to the Dagster Plus UI.
