What is ProtoNote?

Editorial review
ProtoNote is a feedback tool for sharing prototypes and artifacts with your team. You can drop HTML files, screenshots, PDFs, Markdown, or images to create a shareable project. Reviewers can pin notes directly on the exact spot of the page without creating an account. The tool integrates with an advanced LLM via a connector, allowing you to generate share links directly from chat or pull notes back into the LLM to apply changes. All prototypes are private by default, and only people with the link can view them. The free tier supports up to 3 active prototypes with unlimited reviewers and notes, while the Pro plan offers paid tiers with unlimited prototypes, folders, version history, and view tracking. Reviewers never see upgrade prompts or pay.

ProtoNote FAQ

How does the Claude connector work?

Set it up in about 30 seconds. Once connected, you can tell Claude 'make this a ProtoNote' and receive a share link directly in chat. You can also pull your open ProtoNotes into Claude to apply feedback changes.

What file types are supported?

ProtoNote supports HTML, Markdown, images, and PDFs. You can upload multiple files to create a multi-page project, with each page having its own notes.

Can reviewers leave notes without creating an account?

Yes. Reviewers simply type their name to start leaving pinned notes. No signup or login is required, and they never see upgrade prompts.

What counts as an active prototype?

An active prototype is one you can currently share and collect notes on. Archived prototypes do not count toward the free tier limit of three. You can archive old prototypes anytime to free up space.

What happens if I downgrade from Pro?

Nothing is deleted. Prototypes beyond the first three are archived (links pause, notes stay intact). If you resubscribe, everything unlocks exactly as you left it. Pro runs to the end of the paid period after cancellation.

Is my work private?

Yes, by default. Only people with the direct link can open a prototype. You can disable or regenerate any link at any time, which immediately cuts off access.

Can I upload multiple files to one project?

Yes. Upload several files together and they become pages of one project, each with its own notes and feedback.

Will reviewers ever be asked to pay?

Never. Reviewers do not create accounts, see upgrade prompts, or pay anything. This is a permanent policy, not a temporary plan.
