As of 20 Oct 2026, for 3 people collecting 1,000 responses a month with logic, file upload, payments, no vendor badge and a webhook, Typeform Plus costs $663 to $672 a year billed yearly. Tally Pro is $290 a year, Zoho Forms Standard $300 and Cognito Forms Pro $288 to $348, because its own pages disagree on included users. Fillout Pro is $480 and Paperform Pro $588; totals are our arithmetic.
Eight form builders checked for a 3-person team, 1,000 responses a month and a form with no vendor badge (six priced in dollars, one in euros, one with no price), plus a 100-response and a 10,000-response ladder, from vendor pages in October 2026.
Typeform charges for volume and seats in the same plan, and that bundle is what a cheaper tool can undo. Plus gives a team 1,000 responses a month and 3 users, and every form in the account shares that pool, so five forms do not get five allowances. At the limit, forms go private until the next month unless the team adds responses or upgrades. Toolradar data: of the 86 form builders we track, 64% offer a free, freemium or open-source plan and 36% are paid only, so the real question for a team paying per response is where the free tier ends and what the paid step costs.
The test is one team, called S1: 3 people who each log in, 1,000 responses a month over 5 forms, conditional logic, file upload, a payment field, a form with no vendor badge and a webhook or Zapier connection, billed yearly in US dollars. Each cost is the plan whose own caps cover that basket, times 12 months: our arithmetic, not a vendor quote. CSV export is outside the basket because only some pricing pages list it by plan.
Methodology: we considered the 86 form builders in the form builders category and read ten against Typeform, the benchmark and not a pick: eight are picks (six priced in dollars, one in euros, one with no price), and Formstack and Heyflow, which sit above Typeform Plus, appear only in the pricing tiers. Every price was read on the vendor's own pages on 20 Oct 2026. Where a vendor's pages disagree, the table prints the range and the order follows the higher figure. The euro-priced and unpriced rows come last, since we do not convert currencies or guess. Our method is on how we rate.

What a cheaper Typeform alternative has to replace
A Typeform alternative is a form builder that collects the same answers, payments and files on a different meter: a flat plan, unlimited submissions, a seat count or a small response tier. Typeform meters responses and users together, and its help center says partial responses count toward the limit.
Response-tier tools such as Typeform and Fillout raise the plan as volume grows. Flat tools such as Tally and Paperform price by features, with unlimited seats, under fair-use language. Zoho Forms, Cognito Forms and Jotform cap users, entries or submissions per plan. A response, a submission and an entry are different units, so this guide never converts one into another.
Why the plan floor and the meter decide the bill
The plan floor is the cheapest plan that carries your badge removal, logins and volume together. For S1 that is Typeform Plus, because Basic keeps the Typeform badge and has 1 user. Each alternative has its own floor: Tally Pro for team members and badge removal, Zoho Forms Standard for 10 users, Fillout Pro for a form with no mark on it.
The meter decides the rest. Between 1,000 and 10,000 responses a month, Typeform moves from Plus to Business, Fillout from Pro to Business and Jotform to Gold, while Tally Pro and Zoho Forms Standard keep the same plan. See Tally vs Typeform and Fillout vs Typeform for feature detail.
Key Features to Look For
Response meter (Essential)
Typeform counts responses across all forms, partial ones included. Tally and Paperform list unlimited submissions under fair use. Fillout tiers at 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and unlimited, and Jotform and Cognito Forms cap submissions or entries per plan.
Seats and logins (Essential)
Typeform Plus includes 3 users and Business 5. Tally Pro, Paperform and Fillout list unlimited team members, users or seats, and Zoho Forms Standard holds 10. Cognito Forms charges $5 per extra user a month, and Jotform plans are 1 user.
Payments (Important)
Typeform lists Stripe payment questions from Basic, and Paperform and Zoho Forms tick Stripe on every plan. Tally, Fillout and forms.app list payments on Free. Cognito Forms adds 1% on Pro card payments, and Jotform Bronze caps payment submissions at 100 a month.
File uploads (Important)
Typeform Plus lists 2 GB of upload storage, Paperform Pro 10 GB, Zoho Forms Standard 2 GB and Jotform Bronze 1 GB. Tally Free and forms.app Free limit files to 10 MB each, and Fillout limits files to 20 MB through Pro.
Webhooks and connectors (Important)
Typeform ticks webhooks from Basic, Tally and Fillout from Free, and Zoho Forms and forms.app on every plan. Paperform starts at Pro, and Cognito's product pages list JSON Webhooks as a Pro feature.
What to check before you leave Typeform
-
Count the badge first. Typeform Basic and most free plans keep the vendor mark, so price the plan that removes it.
-
Count logins second. Jotform plans are 1 user, Cognito Forms pages disagree on 2 users or 1, and Tally Pro and Paperform list no user cap.
-
Read the unit. Typeform counts responses across forms, partial ones included; others count submissions or entries, so a number compares only inside one vendor.
-
Use one billing toggle. Typeform Plus is $79 billed monthly and Tally Pro $29, so a mixed table misleads.
-
Read the fair-use link. Tally and Paperform both say unlimited submissions and both point to a policy for sustained high volume.
Evaluation Checklist
Write down badge, logins and monthly volume before opening a pricing page.
Read each price on both billing toggles and keep the yearly one for a yearly budget.
Check the plan table for the cap your basket hits: users, forms, submissions or storage.
Send one test submission through the webhook you plan to use.
Time the switch to your Typeform renewal, since a prepaid plan cannot be paused.

Prices read on vendor pages on 20 Oct 2026: Typeform pricing with its response limits and partial responses help pages, Tally pricing and Tally fair use policy, Zoho Forms pricing, Cognito Forms pricing and Cognito payment fees, Cognito JSON Webhooks, Jotform pricing and Jotform support on users, answer dated 28 Sep 2023, Fillout pricing, Paperform pricing, forms.app pricing, Google Forms and Google Forms limits, Formstack pricing and Heyflow pricing. S1 costs are our arithmetic: the monthly rate on the yearly toggle times 12 for Typeform, Zoho Forms, Cognito Forms, Fillout, Paperform and Jotform (Jotform's $408 is $34 x 12), with the lower yearly charge in Typeform's price data as the low end of its range. Tally's yearly price comes from its pricing-page data and upgrade modal, which the card rounds to $24 a month. Rows are in US dollars except forms.app, which prints euros and is not converted.
Mistakes to Avoid
- ×
Comparing a monthly price with a yearly one. Typeform Plus is $79 billed monthly and $56 a month on the yearly toggle, so a mixed table is off by $276 a year.
- ×
Reading a free plan as a no-badge plan. The free plans of Tally, Fillout, Zoho Forms and forms.app keep the vendor mark.
- ×
Assuming each form has its own allowance. Typeform's 1,000 responses on Plus are shared by all forms.
- ×
Buying three Jotform accounts for three logins. Support says a standard plan is a single-user login and others join as collaborators, so check that before paying $1,224 a year for three Bronze plans.
- ×
Ignoring the payment fee. Cognito Forms adds 1% on Pro card payments, which is $10 on $1,000 of sales.
- ×
Trusting a rounded card. Typeform shows $56 a month on the yearly toggle, yet its price data lists a yearly charge $9 lower than twelve times that.
Expert Tips
- →
Start from the plan floor: write down badge, logins and volume, then read only the plans that carry all three.
- →
At 100 responses and 1 user, Zoho Forms Basic is the lowest badge-free dollar row here; at 3 users it needs Standard.
- →
Time the switch to your Typeform renewal: its pricing page says a prepaid subscription cannot be paused and plan changes take effect at the end of the prepaid period.
- →
Ask about fair use in writing if you expect sustained volume; 10,000 a month is our own threshold, not a figure in either policy. Tally's policy names sustained high submission volumes, and Paperform says it will contact accounts that are consistently over limits.
Red Flags to Watch For
-
A price on one billing toggle with no label. Tally, Fillout and Cognito Forms open on the yearly view.
-
A plan card and a plan page that disagree. Cognito Forms lists Pro with 2 users on two layouts and 1 on a third.
-
An unlimited claim with a fair use link. Tally and Paperform both promise unlimited submissions and both point to a policy.
-
A free plan with a hidden cap on files or forms. Tally and forms.app limit free uploads to 10 MB, forms.app Free holds 5 forms and Zoho Forms Free holds 3.
The Bottom Line
For the S1 team, start with Tally Pro at $290 a year if its fair-use terms suit your volume, or Zoho Forms Standard at $300 if you want 10 users and a stated cap of 25,000 submissions. Cognito Forms deserves a look at 100 responses a month, and Fillout fits teams that want unlimited seats. Keep Typeform Plus only if its editor is worth more than $363 a year to you, the least you save by choosing Tally Pro or Zoho Forms Standard. Re-read the plans before you pay, because tiers move.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cheaper alternative to Typeform for 1,000 responses a month?
For 3 people, 1,000 responses a month, logic, file upload, payments, no vendor badge and a webhook, billed yearly, Tally Pro, Zoho Forms Standard and Cognito Forms Pro each come in under $350 a year, well below Typeform Plus. Fillout Pro and Paperform Pro also cost less than Typeform. Prices checked 20 Oct 2026.
How much does Typeform cost for 1,000 responses a month?
Typeform Plus covers 1,000 responses a month and 3 users. The pricing page shows $56 a month on the yearly toggle ($672 for 12 months) and $79 a month billed monthly ($948 a year), while the price data the page loads lists $663 for the yearly term. Basic at $28 a month billed yearly keeps the Typeform badge and allows 100 responses. Checked 20 Oct 2026.
Is there a free Typeform alternative with unlimited responses?
Tally's free plan lists unlimited forms and submissions under a fair use policy, with payments, file uploads, conditional logic and webhooks, but it keeps the Tally badge and limits files to 10 MB each. forms.app Free allows unlimited responses and team members on up to 5 forms. Fillout Free stops at 1,000 responses a month and Paperform Free at 30 submissions. Checked 20 Oct 2026.
Does Typeform's response limit apply to each form?
No. Typeform's help center says response limits apply across all forms in the account, so a Plus plan with three forms collects 1,000 responses in total each month, not 1,000 per form. Limits reset monthly, apply to monthly and yearly plans, and deleted responses still count. Partial responses collected through a Partial Submit Point also count toward the limit.
How does Tally compare with Typeform on price?
At S1, Tally Pro is a flat yearly plan with unlimited team members, well below Typeform Plus, which prices 1,000 responses and 3 users together. Tally's pricing page lists unlimited submissions rather than a response tier, and ties that to a fair use policy. The Tally vs Typeform page sets the features side by side.
Is Jotform cheaper than Typeform?
It depends on logins. Jotform Bronze costs $408 a year billed yearly for 1,000 submissions a month and 25 forms, but every plan is a single-user login, and Jotform support (answer dated 28 Sep 2023) says extra people can join as collaborators who edit your forms. Three separate Bronze accounts come to $1,224, above Typeform Plus. See Typeform vs Jotform.
Where does the order change at 100 or 10,000 responses a month?
At 100 responses and 1 user, Zoho Forms Basic ($120) and Cognito Forms Pro ($228) fall below Tally Pro. At 10,000 responses and 5 users, Fillout needs Business ($900), Typeform needs Business ($1,083 to $1,092) and Jotform Gold is $1,188 for a single user, while Tally Pro and Zoho Forms Standard keep the same plans. Billed yearly, checked 20 Oct 2026.
