Best AI Tools for People Ops in 2026

TL;DR

Short answer: Lattice Performance is $10 per seat each month on an annual contract, checked on the vendor pricing page in September 2026. Pick it when people ops owns the review cycle and wants the AI agent inside that seat. ChartHop Core is $5 per employee per month when the work is the org chart, headcount, and Ask ChartHop.

15Five Perform is $11 per user per month when managers need Amaya and the employee record already lives in another system. Culture Amp is the survey suite if you can wait for a quote. Payroll, employer-of-record hires, and the ATS are a different buying job.

Price the review seat or the org chart before you accept a quote for a second record.

People ops should buy the AI that finishes a cycle already on the calendar: a review, a headcount plan, or a survey readout. A talent-intelligence suite does not approve a promotion, and a payroll assistant does not redraw the org chart. If the real gap is the employee file, US payday, or the applicant tracker, you are shopping for a different product.

Toolradar data: 25% of the 8 AI HR tools we track still offer a free or freemium plan, and 5 are paid-only (63%).

That mix is why this shortlist leads with vendors that print a seat, so a people ops lead can put a number in this quarter's plan.

It is written for the operator who already runs engagement, manager routines, org design, and the headcount questions finance asks. The person who still runs payday or an international hire should use the HR managers guide instead.

How we chose: these 10 were set against the 8 tools in the AI for HR catalog, every price was read on the vendor site in September 2026, and the ranking has no paid placement.

Lattice

Top Pick
  • 4.6 on G2 (4,122 reviews)
  • 3.2 on Trustpilot (2 reviews)

People ops teams that own reviews, goals, or surveys and want the agent included.

+Every base product includes the AI agent, analytics, and integrations, so you are not adding a chatbot contract on top of the cycle you already run.
+Manager Tools (1:1s, feedback, and updates) come with Performance, Goals, or Engagement. Compensation is a separate add-on at $6 per seat per month, so a comp cycle is its own line.
+Performance implementation has no extra change-management fee. Contracts are annual, billed in USD only, and Engagement is the survey module at $4 per seat per month.
−The pricing FAQ says an unbundled Performance or Goals purchase is $8 a month, which does not match the Performance card, so the order form has to settle which figure you will pay.
−The minimum annual agreement is $4,000, and there is no monthly plan, so a team that only needed one review quarter still owes the year.
Good value

Lattice's pricing for HRIS at $10/seat/month and Talent Management at $11/seat/month is competitive, especially with the modular add-ons.

2
ChartHop logo

ChartHop

  • 4.3 on G2 (171 reviews)

Teams whose next decision is headcount, the org chart, or a people-data question.

+Core stands alone: people analytics, the org chart, employee profiles, a map, a company calendar, and Ask ChartHop, so you can ask a workforce question without buying a review module.
+Engagement and Goals are each $3 per employee per month. Headcount planning shows budget impact, and a September 2026 update added a scenario org chart, so finance can see an alternate structure.
+ChartHop is built to sit on an HRIS you already run, with a two-way sync to ADP Workforce Now, so this is a visual layer rather than a second payday system.
−AI Pro, which lets Ask ChartHop automate workflows, publishes no price, so a demo of the assistant taking action is not included in Core.
−You pay Core plus each module, billed annually, and the volume discount is a sales conversation. Enterprise pricing for multi-entity companies is also unpublished, so a multi-entity rollout needs its own quote.
Good value

It's best for growing companies needing robust people analytics and planning tools.

3
15Five logo

15Five

  • 4.6 on G2 (1,927 reviews)

Companies whose managers need coaching and whose HRIS already holds the record.

+Perform includes Amaya, AI-assisted reviews, 15Five Agents, OKRs, 360 feedback, a talent matrix, and career paths, so this is the seat when managers are the bottleneck. Total Platform at $16 adds the HR dashboard and manager microlearnings.
+Engage at $4 per user per month covers surveys, heat maps, and lifecycle surveys, and it does not include Amaya, so a survey purchase will not draft the cycle.
+The three annual package rates were updated in February 2026 and were still the rates on the pricing page in September 2026, so you can budget from that page.
−Kona Meeting Assistant is $2 per employee per month and Kona Coach is $19 per manager per month, so a coach inside the 1:1 is not the Perform seat.
−The content library is $49 per manager per month, a live coaching credit is $399, and the contract is annual. Standard packages do not state a minimum spend, but some add-ons can.
Fair value

15Five's pricing is on the higher side compared to some market alternatives, especially the "Perform" tier at $11/user/month for core performance features.

4
Leapsome logo

Leapsome

  • 4.8 on G2 (2,570 reviews)
  • 4.6 on Capterra (101 reviews)
  • 2.8 on Trustpilot (3 reviews)

Mid-market teams that want HR operations and talent modules on one record.

+AI Agents are included across the HRIS and the talent modules, and Leapsome does not sell them as a higher tier. They draft reviews, answer policy questions, and build a workflow from a prompt.
+A 14-day trial needs no credit card, there is no setup fee, and the minimum term is one year. Named success support starts once the annual contract reaches $6,000, so a smaller contract has no named partner.
+Teams leaving another HRIS can use Leapsome at no charge while that old contract runs, through March 2027. That offer is a switch deal, so a first people-ops stack should not expect it.
−The pricing page shows a starting calculator figure, then says modules and volume change the quote, so the number on the page is the start of a sales conversation.
−The currency control switches the label among USD, EUR, and GBP and leaves the figure unchanged. The order form has to say dollars before you treat the page as a US price.
Good value

Leapsome's pricing is fair, offering specialized modules at competitive rates.

Watch out

Potential for seat minimums on lower tiers

5
Culture Amp logo

Culture Amp

  • 4.5 on G2 (1,617 reviews)
  • 4.6 on Capterra (163 reviews)

Survey programs that will wait for a quote in exchange for the AI Coach.

+AI Coach is built into Engage and into Perform, with comment summaries, action plans, and help writing reviews, so there is no separate chatbot contract to add later.
+1-on-1s, Shoutouts, and Skills Coach are included for every customer, and every product is billed annually, so you cannot drop the tool after one survey.
+Service follows headcount: under 200 employees get group success, 200 to 999 get a named partner plus implementation, and 1,000 or more can include a results call with a people scientist.
−Culture Amp publishes no dollar, and price depends on employees, the product, and the service tier, so you cannot set it next to a published survey seat until the quote names headcount.
−People Science Consulting is a separate offer, so a demo that included a scientist is not the software line you were shown.
Fair value

This platform is best suited for larger enterprises prioritizing comprehensive HR analytics and willing to invest significantly.

Watch out

Potential for additional setup/onboarding fees

6
HiBob logo

HiBob

  • 4.5 on G2 (2,636 reviews)
  • 4.6 on Trustpilot (173 reviews)

Scale-ups that want a people platform and can budget from a quote.

+AI Companion is included and can summarize a review, draft feedback, and analyze company data, so the assistant is not a later add-on. Every subscription includes Core HR, with other products added as you grow.
+HiBob describes three bands: under 200 employees, 200 to 1,000, and 1,000 or more. Talent, payroll, workforce planning, compensation, learning, and analytics sit on top of Core, and each one changes the quote.
+Bob offers native payroll in the US and the UK. If people ops only needed the assistant and the record, payroll will widen the contract.
−HiBob publishes no list price. The quote depends on headcount, the modules, and implementation or support services, so you cannot rank it against a printed seat until those lines exist.
−A Core HR quote does not include Talent, planning, or compensation. Mid-market go-lives are described as weeks, and the FAQ does not fix that timeline to a number of weeks.
Good value

However, the comprehensive feature sets suggest it's likely positioned for mid-market to enterprise clients.

7
Visier logo

Visier

  • 4.6 on G2 (223 reviews)

People analytics teams that want an agent on workforce data, not a new HRIS.

Visier screenshot
+Vee answers workforce questions in plain language, suggests follow-ups, and is available in Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Copilot, so the answer does not require a separate analytics tab.
+The product page says Vee is trusted by over 2 million users, and answers stay inside the access level of the person asking, so managers can use it without seeing the whole dataset.
+Vee 2.0 requires the organization to opt in to AI features. Optional narratives are generated with a model hosted on Azure, and Visier says customer data is not used for training.
−Visier publishes no subscription price. Vee is enabled through the vendor or your success manager, not through a public checkout.
−Questions about workforce plans are limited availability, and if the data behind a question is not loaded, Vee cannot answer it, no matter how plain the English is.
8
Betterworks logo

Betterworks

  • 4.4 on G2 (258 reviews)

Organizations over 500 employees that want a published performance seat.

+Performance plus Talent Intelligence is $9 per user per month and adds anytime calibration on skills and gaps. The Performance-only package is $8 per user per month, and AI help is included so managers do not start from a blank box.
+AI can be turned off in parts of the product when a company policy forbids a drafting assistant, which is a real switch rather than a verbal promise.
+Betterworks says the product adds the most value above 500 employees, so a smaller company sits outside that fit line. Every package includes support plus a designated success partner.
−The pricing FAQ says the proposal still depends on headcount, integrations, and deployment, so the card rate is the opening number, not a self-serve checkout.
−Implementation is a separate one-time cost with no published dollar, Signature Support costs extra, and the standalone Engagement module is not given a price on the pricing page.
Good value

This approach often indicates a premium service tailored to larger organizations with complex needs.

9
Workday logo

Workday

  • 4.1 on G2 (1,710 reviews)
  • 1.0 on Trustpilot (495 reviews)

Companies already on Workday that are buying agents, not a new system of record.

+Flex Credits are an annual bulk purchase. The Self-Service Agent's retrieval skill uses 1 credit per action, and autonomous task completion uses 5 credits per action, so a finished task draws more of the pool than a lookup.
+Customers on the model get a yearly complimentary allotment based on company size, so they can test agents in production, and testing in non-production is free.
+The same credit pool covers Workday-built agents, platform innovations, and Sana. New agents arrive without a fresh procurement cycle, which suits a company that already runs Workday.
−Workday publishes no dollar per credit and no list price for the HCM, so the public rate card is a credit count you cannot drop into a budget beside a per-seat tool.
−Credits move across agents without a new signature, which is flexible, and it also means a people ops pilot can draw down a pool finance thought was reserved for another team.
Good value

Workday's pricing is custom and enterprise-focused, making it inherently expensive for smaller organizations.

Watch out

Potential for module-specific add-ons

10
Eightfold logo

Eightfold

  • 4.2 on G2 (226 reviews)
  • 4.0 on Capterra (14 reviews)

Teams that need a skills graph and internal moves, and can take a quote.

+The talent intelligence platform models skills, capabilities, and the work people do, then surfaces internal opportunities, so buy it when mobility is the gap. Agentic AI is the product, not a sidebar chatbot.
+AI Interviewer, a separate product, works beside an existing ATS. Eightfold's July 8, 2026 post says deployment is measured in weeks and that SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001 are included.
+That post says a 1,500-employee company does not pay a rate built for 10,000 people, and that interviewer pricing scales with interview volume and the use case.
−Neither product has a list price. The same post calls AI Interviewer a five-figure investment for mid-size organizations and tells buyers to ignore third-party per-employee estimates.
−The interviewer quote does not include the talent-intelligence platform, so people ops buying skills and internal mobility should not sign the recruiting line by accident.
Good value

This pricing structure is best suited for established small to medium businesses and large enterprises seeking advanced talent solutions.

What an AI tool for people ops actually does

An AI tool for people ops drafts, scores, or answers a workforce task the people team already owns: a review, a survey theme, a headcount scenario, a skills gap, or who sits where. If it cannot touch that task, it will not return the hour you are trying to get back.

People ops pays for five budgets, and a check for one leaves the others unpaid. Reviews and manager routines belong with Lattice, 15Five, Leapsome, and Betterworks when the cycle is the next calendar item.

A survey program that wants a research bench belongs with Culture Amp, and you should skip it if the readout must be budgeted this month from a public seat. Org design and live people-data questions belong with ChartHop and Visier, which you buy when finance is arguing about the chart.

The record itself, when that is what you are replacing, belongs with HiBob or, at enterprise scale, Workday. Skills and internal moves belong with Eightfold. None of those products run US payday, so that job stays on the HR software guide.

Why people ops should price the seat before the demo

Culture Amp, HiBob, Visier, Workday, and Eightfold hide the price, so you cannot rank them against a published seat this week. The demo is a scoping call, and the budget line arrives only after the quote names headcount, modules, and which assistant is included. Leave without those three and you have a tour you cannot defend to finance.

Put the published plans in the spreadsheet first. Lattice, ChartHop, 15Five, Leapsome, and Betterworks can go in this month, and everyone else stays a project until someone writes a dollar down. A people ops team that starts with Workday Flex Credits, before it knows the credit rate, is guessing the bill for a system it may not even run.

Use the HRIS guide when the employee file is the gap, and the engagement guide when the survey program is the only job. Use the HR analytics guide when you are buying the analytic and nothing else.

Key Features to Look For

  • A review the manager does not open blank (Essential)

Lattice includes an AI agent on every base product, so the cycle does not need a second contract. 15Five puts Amaya on Perform, so a survey purchase will not write the review. Leapsome includes review drafts in the platform price.

  • An org chart that finance can argue with (Essential)

ChartHop Core includes Ask ChartHop, the org chart, and people analytics on its own, so you can ask a workforce question without buying reviews. Headcount planning is a module you add, and it shows budget impact.

  • A survey with a next step, not a dashboard (Essential)

Culture Amp builds AI Coach into Engage and Perform, with comment summaries and action plans, for a team that will wait on a quote. Lattice Engagement is the published survey seat if the readout is this month.

  • Manager coaching that is actually on the plan (Essential)

15Five Perform includes Amaya and AI-assisted reviews, so the manager stack is that plan. Kona, the meeting assistant and the manager coach, is priced beside the seat, so a coach in the 1:1 is a second invoice.

  • One record for HR ops and talent (Important)

Leapsome runs HRIS, reviews, surveys, goals, learning, and compensation as modules, with AI agents included rather than sold as a higher tier. Use it when you are replacing the record and the cycle together.

  • A people-data answer with permissions (Important)

Visier Vee answers in plain language from your workforce data, including inside Teams and Slack, and it keeps the access level of the person asking. It suits a team that already has a record.

  • Agents on a system you already run (Important)

Workday Flex Credits meter skills, not seats: retrieval is 1 credit per action and autonomous completion is 5. The HCM subscription is a separate quote, so the credit count is not the price of the system.

  • A skills graph for internal moves (Nice to have)

Eightfold models skills and career paths for internal moves. AI Interviewer is a different product, priced by interview volume and sold beside the ATS, so it will not fix mobility.

What to decide before the demo

  1. If reviews are the cycle on the calendar, price Lattice or 15Five before a new system of record, because a second employee file is a migration.

  2. If finance wants headcount and the org chart, price ChartHop Core before a performance suite, because the suite will not draw the scenario.

  3. Count employees against Betterworks' own fit line, above 500, and against the headcount bands HiBob publishes.

  4. Ask which product the quote covers: Culture Amp Engage versus Perform, Workday credits versus the HCM, or Eightfold talent intelligence versus AI Interviewer.

  5. Do not rank a quote-only vendor against Lattice or ChartHop until both numbers are written down for the same headcount.

Evaluation Checklist

  • On Lattice, ask which figure the order form uses, because the Performance card and the pricing FAQ do not match.

  • On ChartHop, list Core plus each module you will turn on, and ask for the volume discount in writing, because AI Pro has no public price.

  • On 15Five, confirm Amaya is on the plan, and price Kona, content, and live coaching if the demo showed a coach in the meeting.

  • On Leapsome, switch the calculator to USD, then ask for the order form. The page says the quote is customized, and the trial is how you see the product first.

  • On Culture Amp, get headcount, Engage or Perform, and the service tier on one page before you compare it with a published survey seat.

  • On HiBob, mark Core HR as included and list Talent, payroll, planning, and compensation as separate lines. AI Companion is included, and the dollar is not on the page.

  • On Workday, ask for the Flex Credit rate card in credits and in dollars, plus the complimentary allotment for your headcount. The public page gives the credit counts only.

  • On Eightfold, keep the talent-intelligence quote and the AI Interviewer quote apart. The July 2026 interviewer post prices by volume and still prints no dollar.

Quote

Vendor sites were checked on September 24, 2026. Quote rows have no subscription dollar, so they stay out of a budget until the vendor writes one. Lattice and ChartHop bill annually, so a one-quarter pilot still owes the year. Leapsome's calculator figure is the start of a quote, not a checkout total.

See Lattice vs 15Five for the manager stack, and ChartHop vs Visier before you treat an analytics demo as a price.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • ×

Buying Lattice Engagement for review writing gets you the survey module. The review cycle, succession, and calibration sit on Performance, and the FAQ price for an unbundled module is not the card.

  • ×

Treating ChartHop Core as the automation tier skips AI Pro, which has no public price. Ask ChartHop on Core answers and shows insights, and it does not run the workflow the demo automated.

  • ×

Starting 15Five on Engage because it is the cheaper plan leaves Amaya on Perform. The survey plan will not draft the review, and Kona is still a separate line if the demo showed a meeting coach.

  • ×

Reading Leapsome's calculator as the invoice ignores the note that modules and volume change the price. Switch the label to USD, then make the order form repeat the currency.

  • ×

Ranking Culture Amp or HiBob against a published seat before the quote names headcount and modules. A scientist on the Culture Amp call, or Talent on the HiBob call, is not the base line.

  • ×

Buying Eightfold AI Interviewer to fix internal mobility purchases a recruiting product. The skills graph and the interviewer are different assessments.

Expert Tips

  • →

Separate the people-ops layer from payday and hiring. This page is reviews, surveys, org design, and analytics. The HR managers guide is the file, payroll, and the ATS.

  • →

Open Lattice vs 15Five when you need modular seats for reviews, goals, and surveys, or a manager bundle that already includes Amaya. Add Kona only if someone will pay for a coach in the meeting.

  • →

Open ChartHop vs Visier when the fight is the analytic. ChartHop is the org and the headcount workflow. Visier Vee is the agent on a governed people model, and it has no public dollar.

  • →

Use Lattice vs Leapsome when you might replace the record and the review tool in one contract. Leapsome lets you try the workspace before the annual term, and Lattice's free tour will not carry that quarter's review cycle.

  • →

Send a pure engagement bake-off to the engagement guide, and a pure skills-and-hiring bake-off to the recruiting guide. Eightfold's interviewer is that second job.

  • →

Ask Workday for a dollar per credit before you expand Self-Service Agent to another population. The public page prints credit counts, and those counts are not a price.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • !

A Culture Amp, HiBob, Visier, Workday, or Eightfold call with no written range is a demo you cannot put in the budget.

  • !

Lattice prints one Performance figure on the card and another in the pricing FAQ, so a verbal promise of the card rate is not the order form.

  • !

ChartHop AI Pro is the automation tier, and it publishes no price, so a demo of Ask ChartHop taking action is not the Core seat.

  • !

15Five Engage will not write the review, because Amaya sits on Perform and Total Platform, and Kona is another invoice.

  • !

Leapsome's switch promotion, through March 2027, applies when you are leaving another HRIS, so it is not a discount on a first people-ops stack.

  • !

Workday complimentary credits let you test agents, and they are not a price for the HCM. The public page does not say how many credits your headcount receives.

The Bottom Line

Lattice when people ops owns reviews and wants the agent on a published annual seat, after you reconcile the card with the FAQ and clear the annual minimum. ChartHop when the next argument with finance is headcount or the org chart, and you add modules only after Core is already in the budget.

15Five when managers are the bottleneck and you will pay for the plan that actually includes Amaya. Leapsome when the HR record and the talent modules should be one contract, and you will make the order form say dollars before you sign.

Betterworks when you are past 500 employees and you want a published performance seat, knowing implementation is an extra bill. Choose Culture Amp, HiBob, Visier, Workday, or Eightfold only when the quote names the module the demo showed, because a tour is not a number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI tool for people ops in 2026?

Lattice is the pick when people ops owns reviews, goals, or surveys. The Performance seat is an annual USD contract, the AI agent is included on every base product, and that price was checked in September 2026.

Use ChartHop when the job is the org chart and headcount, 15Five Perform when managers need Amaya, and Leapsome when the HR record and the talent modules should be one system. A suite that only quotes stays off this answer until the vendor prints a number.

How much do AI tools for people ops cost in 2026?

September 2026 list prices put Lattice Performance at $10 per seat per month with a $4,000 annual minimum, ChartHop Core at $5 per employee per month, and 15Five Perform at $11 per user per month. Total Platform is $16. Leapsome's calculator shows a per-user starting figure with AI included, and Betterworks' talent tier is $9 per user per month.

Culture Amp, HiBob, Visier, and Eightfold publish no subscription dollar. Workday meters agents in Flex Credits and does not publish a dollar per credit, so the pool is not a seat you can set beside those list prices.

Is there a free AI tool for people ops in 2026?

No lasting free plan on this shortlist will run a people ops team. Leapsome offers a 14-day trial with no credit card, then an annual contract. Lattice's free tour is not a workspace you can run a review cycle in.

ChartHop, 15Five, Culture Amp, HiBob, Visier, Betterworks, and Eightfold do not publish a free product tier. Workday's complimentary Flex Credits are a test allotment for customers already on that model, not a free HCM.

How does Lattice compare with ChartHop and 15Five for people ops?

Lattice is the modular people seat: Performance, Goals, and Engagement, with the AI agent on each, an annual contract, and a $4,000 minimum. The pricing FAQ's unbundled line does not match the Performance card, so confirm the order form before you treat the page as the bill.

ChartHop Core is the org, analytics, and Ask ChartHop layer, and you add headcount or reviews as modules. 15Five is the manager stack: Perform includes Amaya, Engage does not, and Kona is an add-on. Read Lattice vs 15Five if the choice is those two, and keep ChartHop when the org chart is the actual problem.

Should people ops choose Culture Amp or Leapsome?

Choose Leapsome when you want a starting figure and HR operations plus reviews on one record. AI agents are included, the minimum term is one year, and named success support starts at $6,000 a year. The March 2027 switch offer applies only if you are leaving another HRIS.

Choose Culture Amp when the science team wants AI Coach inside Engage or Perform and someone will wait for a quote. Service gets more personal as headcount grows, from group success up to a people scientist on the largest band, and there is still no public dollar.

What do Workday Flex Credits cost for a people ops team?

Workday does not publish a dollar price for Flex Credits or for the HCM. Credits are bought annually in bulk. The Self-Service Agent uses 1 credit each time it retrieves information, and 5 credits when it completes a task on its own.

A complimentary yearly allotment, sized to the company, lets you test agents in production. That allotment is not published as a count, and it is not a reason to adopt Workday if you do not already run it.

For a first people platform at a scale-up, price HiBob's quote against HiBob vs Lattice on scope, then demand both dollars.

Is Eightfold a people ops tool or a recruiting tool?

Eightfold sells the two jobs as different products. The talent intelligence platform is the skills graph and the internal-mobility layer a people ops team would buy. AI Interviewer is the recruiting agent, and Eightfold's July 8, 2026 post says it scales with interview volume, deploys in weeks, and includes SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001.

That post still publishes no list price, and it describes the interviewer as a five-figure investment for mid-size companies. Do not use a third-party per-employee rumor for either product. If the only gap is the ATS, start with the recruiting guide instead.
